At Sea (Day 2)

I got up super early to see the sun rise.  We were passing Vancouver Island (too far out to see it) and I thought the smoke might make for a nice view.  Yup!

After that, it was foggy the whole day. But that's ok because they kept us entertained with shows and food.

No one is sitting by the pool today

The Royal Caribbean Singers and Dancers in the Palace Theatre

Dinner in the Starlight Dining Room.  Almost a window seat.

Tracey Arm Fjord (Day 5)

Day 5 was another full day at sea but we started the morning by sailing up the Tracey Arm fjord.  We entered the fjord around 5am.  I got to the observation deck around 6am.  The fjord is narrow so we were going very slow.  They had to divert to the Endicott Arm due to heavy ice flow in the area.  No problem, that has the Dawes Glacier at the end so it was pretty amazing. Royal Caribbean Explorer of the Sea (Day 1)

We set sail at 4pm on Friday.  Our next day was at sea. Leaving Seattle View of the dock as we leave First day, first order of business, find our room and then tour the ship. We were on deck 8, Port, Aft, inside room (no window). The deck on the level 11 Oh no, another shared bed! But they separated them for us. Room service is great. Skagway (Day 4)

We arrived in Skagway, Alaska before we got up.  We were allowed to disembark at 9 but we had breakfast first. Skagway is a cool little Gold Rush town that is now, from what I can tell, a summer tourist town.  They never had a fire like other old cities so original buildings are still there.  Although we learned that they move them around as needs of the town require. Main Street is only 8 blocks long. Another famous 'Red' saloon, this time the Red Onion. Storefront covered in driftwood Bronze prospector.  Even the statue looks like he lost his fortune We stopped in at the National Park centre (to use the bathroom to be honest) and discovered that they offer FREE walking tours every hour.  We were in time for 'The Ladies of Skagway tour so we joined the walk.  Walk is mostly inaccurate.
